Press PAUSE on Life: The Secret of Proper Alignment | Lech Lecha
Lachlicha, a calling, a mission statement, go to yourself. Many of us think that it was a calling to Avram. It's true. It's not a mistake to say that. But this MS points out that Lachlicha was actually a calling to humanity. It was a calling to everybody. There was a voice, a call of Lachlecha. But it was only Avram of Venu who heard it. And that was what made him an Ivri. That is what made him different. He tuned everything else out and he heard God talking. It wasn't shot that God just started talking now. No, since Hashem created the world, he's been talking and communicating with those who are willing to hear it. And when a person is able to hit the pause button and stop and focus and now align himself with God, that's miraculous. That's amazing. That's where life truly is lived at. And Avama Vinu heard the calling of Lachlecha. He tapped into it. You know, it's interesting, the pause button, you know, there's two primary buttons on a video. There's the play button, which is like a sideways, like a sideways-shaped triangle, and then there's a pause button, which is shaped like two lines side by side, in perfect alignment. And there's really a valuable lesson for us in that in life we're meant to hit pause. We're meant to take a step back and say, wait a second, what am I here for? What am I doing? Why am I here? The moment I was created was the moment Hashem decided to create me, which means that my presence here is actually worth something. I actually have value. And Avramavinu thought about himself, he thought about life, he thought about the trajectory of the world, he thought about it all, and he understood and he heard, he tapped into it because he paused, and he was able to align himself with Hashem, like that pause icon, two lines side by side, right? Shivisi Hashem Linegdi Sameh, this idea of Shivisi, equanimity, putting ourselves in alignment with Hakarushbarakhu. There's so many things that we want to do in life, but how am I doing them? Are they in the context of a godly nature? Are they in the context of the Tarah? The two middle letters is Yud and Yud, which is Hashem's name, and the two outer letters is Ches and Mem, which is Cham, which means like a Bren, a fire. Person is meant to live life with a bren, with passion, with purpose, with meaning, with a fervor, with gusto. But it has to be with God at the center. We have to live in alignment with him. Shivisi Hashem Linegdi Sumid. Whatever it is we're doing, summid means summid. Taman means always. Always means when I'm at shoal and when I'm at work, always means when I'm eating, and always means when I'm having a catch with my kids. Always means always. No matter what I'm doing, I can be in alignment. And this is the power and the importance of lachlakha. Even those two words represent the pause button. It's it there it's the same word side by side. It's perfect, it's equanimity, it's shava, it's shivisi, it's it's two lines side by side. Me putting my will and and putting in the framework of your will Hashem. That's what Avramavinu did. It was a journey unto himself. A journey that like that never ends, it's a lifelong journey of Lachlecha. How can I create myself in the way I was meant to be? How could I tap into that? Because it's there, it exists. It's a journey to yourself. You never stop journeying. Lach means goal. Like you never never quite made it, and that's part of the beauty of the journey. It's part of the simcha of the journey, the joy of the journey, is that we're constantly finding lacha. We're finding who we really are. It takes that takes a lifetime. And often the way to tap into that is by lachlacha. It's by it's by going, moving, find getting closer to our true self. But the way to do that often comes from hitting pause. Am I in alignment? Come having that awareness. Because when a person is in taqah, when he is in alignment with Hashem, then he's living with joy. He's living with everything becomes meaningful, everything becomes purposeful. It's it's it's all in a realm Kodesh. Of course, there of course there's Kodesh and Khul, but in a certain sense, Ram Abdul ben Kodeshla Kodesh. That's that's that's the way to approach it. So maybe all be Zocha to to hear the calling, realize La Khakcha is a call to humanity, not just a single person. And it's a call that we're meant to answer, and to answer deeply internally. Where where am I in alignment right now? Am I aligned with whatever the the culture tells me to? Am I aligned with whatever the chat box tells me to? Am I aligned with whatever sports team, which is great, all these things are okay, fine. But but deep deeply, lach lacha, like what am I really in alignment with in the context of everything that I'm doing in life? What's driving me? How can I get closer to my true self, to to that mim that that exists somewhere within? And it's not about finding. Life is not about finding, it's about exploring, it's about journeying, it's about searching, seeking. Because you know those two lines in the in the pause button, what does it create in the middle? It creates a focused channel. That's what we're about, having that that focus, that the the channeling, everything we're doing to to have meaning. Like Rabina Achmin says that there's Seychel Bachal Daver, there's intellect and meaning, and uh there's chius alakus, there's godliness in in everything that we're doing. It doesn't matter what, but in whatever it is you're doing, there there's godliness there. So so pause, two lines, side by side, align yourself with that, and your life will Mir Toshem take on more meaning, more feeling, more emotion, more ghiaus. Wishing you all the best.
